G Yamazawa - 23 [FREE Download]

G Yamazawa is a Japanese American MC/Spoken word poet that was born in Durham, North Carolina.  He is a National Poetry Slam Champion and has been featured on ABC, NBC, NPR, PBS, and has toured over 200 universities all over the world.

I first saw him featured in some Team Backpack videos and his slight southern drawl combined with his lyrical flow caught my attention right away.  Usually people are put off by spoken word poets but G makes the transition from poet to rapper so smoothly you start to wonder why it hasn't been done successfully more often.  His debut album "Shouts to Durham" is a concise banger that melds memorable hooks together with precise wordplay and should be immediately copped via iTunes or streamed via your preferred service.

The album might seem a bit short and it will definitely leave you wanting more, so you can head down to Yamazawa's Bandcamp to download his mixtape "23."  Released in 2014, 23 might not have songs as infectious as the ones found in his official debut, but the lyrics are definitely deadlier and more technical as G rhymes over previously released beats on this mixtape.  Download it for free (after signing up to his email list) at the link below and be on the lookout for this rising MC.

Death Grips - Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber Megamix) [STREAM]

It's easy to forget that nihilistic Hip Hop collective Death Grips announced their retirement way in 2014, considering they've been almost as prolific as they were before that announcement.  So it was only a matter of time before they put out some new music and they've done just that and more one year after their last album "Bottomless Pit."  Death Grips have just released a song/megamix/EP for stream called 'Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber Megamix)' and it is a flurry of the fast-paced electrogutter we've come to expect from the trio.  They have also announced via Facebook that they are currently working on another full-length album, so its tough to say whether this new stream is snippets of those future songs or a standalone creation (since Death Grips are calling it a track/mix.)  Regardless this means we'll have more new Death Grips music in the near future, and they've also confirmed gigs for the summer in the UK, Italy, and France so you can expect to see more of them as well.  You can listen to the 22 minute track above with some visuals, or stream it at the link below.
