R.I.P. David S. Ware

David S. Ware (November 7, 1949 – October 18, 2012)

It is with great sadness that I post the passing of another amazing artist - I have just heard the news that free jazz legend David S. Ware has passed the other night. Born in New Jersey but based in New York, Ware was a member of bands led by pianist Cecil Taylor and drummer Andrew Cyrille, and led his own Quartet for 16 years. He died at age 62 on Thursday in New Brunswick, NJ from complications related to a 2009 kidney transplant. David S. Ware was one of my favorite Jazz artists and I have unfortunately never seen him live, and it looks like I never will. David Lynch Foundation Television made a short documentary of Ware in 2011 which you can view at the link below. RIP David, be free:

Death Grips leak their album 'NO LOVE DEEP WEB'

Death Grips have released their new album 'NO LOVE DEEP WEB' as a free download today. I haven’t heard it yet but I wanted to post it asap before all the download links get taken down. Apparently their label Epic/Columbia pushed back the release of the album from October to “sometime next year” so Death Grips decided to leak it themselves in retaliation. Their official website has already been overwhelmed with traffic so they’ve been releasing alternative download links to compensate. Death Grips cancelled their tour over the summer in order to finish recording their new album despite already having released The Money Store this past April (read our review here) angering many fans in the process.

You can try to download the album from their Third Worlds site but be warned, the site contains a very NSFW cover of an erect penis with the album title written on it. You can also try the 3 alternative download links below. As I mentioned before I have not heard anything from their new album yet but based on their previous track record I can confidently say that this is a MUST download.

*UPDATE: It looks like someone shut down Death Grips' Third Worlds website.  They blame the label but Epic/Columbia is denying any involvement.  You can still stream/download via their Soundcloud page below or try the 3 alternate links.  We've also updated the post with our SFW version of the CD cover:
